Yoga
Traditional Hatha Yoga is a complete health system for body, mind and soul. As such it is the ideal exercise for those seeking wellness on all levels. It is not the sole domain of the young, slim or super flexible. Yoga has been practiced for thousands of years and is more about the calm, clear insight of meditation than the physical mastery of the asanas.Classes involve relaxation techniques followed by slow, precisely aligned vinyasa (flowing sequences of postures). While it is wonderful to extend the limitations of the body, the internal awareness of your yoga experience is emphasized. After a practice of standing, seated, twisting and inverted poses, the body is experienced as a humming vessel for the heart and mind to inhabit. The class concludes with relaxation and guided meditation.
These classes are taught by a qualified, experienced Yoga Teacher and member of the Yoga Teacher’s Association of Australia.
In association with the Cancer Council of WA, free classes are available for six week terms at a variety of locations. These are gentle yoga practices suitable for all ages and levels including those undergoing treatment for cancer and their carers.
Personalised yoga therapy consults are available to address specific health issues or obstacles to Yoga practice. These private lessons are a comfortable way to begin or resume your yoga practice. As you develop in your practice you can then enter group classes with a deeper understanding of yoga and clear instructions on any adaptations required to suit your specific needs.
Other classes and teachers are available wherever there is sufficient interest of six or more students.
